Mellow Yellow Monday - Cruisin' from Canaveral

Heading east from the Orlando area, you go through Port Canaveral to get to Cocoa Beach. Port Canaveral is the homeport for Disney, Carnival, Royal Carribean and Norwegian cruise lines.

When I first came into town, it was early evening and a big behemoth was docked and all lit up. Not being familiar with the area, I was not willing to pull over and try to take a picture. I thought, no problem, I'll try to do it next morning on the way to work.

Just goes to show what I know about cruising. That boat had sailed by the next morning.

The day after that, I scored. I was heading to the office and lo and behold, not one but two giants were docked. I found a place to park and starting snapping away.

If those cruise ships just arrived in port, that meant people were disembarking. Lots of people. Two ships worth of people. And those people probably needed to go to the airport and catch flights to back home.

Yes, that is what it meant. The airport in Orlando was crazy later that afternoon. Note to self: do not book travel out of Orlando on days cruise ships return to port.

Mellow Yellow Monday #44 - Stand Back!

Yesterday, the new Amtrak station opened up in Stanwood, WA. As I was standing on the platform awaiting the arrival of the train, I couldn't help but notice the bright yellow line with the warning to "Stand Back of Yellow Line". There were actually two bright yellow lines painted on the platform.

I couldn't believe how some people either couldn't read the safety warning or chose to ignore it. The Amtrak workers on site had their work cut out. Let me tell you, when a train comes roaring by as a freight train did while waiting, it almost seemed too close even behind the yellow line.

Regardless, I decided to let this be my re-entry back into the Mellow Yellow Monday meme. I've been away from the blogosphere for the most part for a couple of months and it's time to get back on board.

This past weekend, we went to a music festival. On Saturday, as we sat in the amphitheater, I spotted this bright yellow umbrella on the lawn area. Trying to keep the sun off of them, it's as bright as the sun, don't you think?

Not only was the train engine yellow, so were the cars, the crane on it, and the "caboose"!

This was an interesting train to say the least. The shape of the engine was unique. I've never seen anything like it before.

Shadow Shot Sunday #58, Mellow Yellow Monday #25 - Have a Seat

Yesterday, several homeowners in our community got together to continue sprucing up our neighborhood park and then have a barbecue. Our homeowners association has worked hard the past couple of years to rescue our wonderful little park after being neglected for way too long.

One of the jobs yesterday was to repaint a couple of our park benches from a dark green color to what else--yellow! You know darn well the camera came out to take a picture of the newly painted bench.

Mellow Yellow Monday #24 - Lone Yellow Kernel

We had our first corn on the cob of the season earlier this week. While I prefer sweet white corn (Silver Queen is my favorite), occasionally we will get yellow corn. This time was no exception with white corn being served.

As I was shucking the ears of corn, there it was. In the middle of row after row of white kernels was one little yellow one.

My husband thought I was nuts because I had to stop and grab my camera. Of course I had to take a picture for Mellow Yellow Monday!
