However, the farther south I drove, the clearer the skies became. After cresting the Tiger Mountain summit, there it was in all its splendor.
What really caught my eye was the cloud to the northeast of Rainier. I first saw it driving through the small town of Black Diamond and was looking for a place to pull over and take pictures. After a couple of attempts, I finally found a spot just outside of Enumclaw.
Mt. Rainier
Around 1600 hrs, we left my sister's to go to do some shopping. The sun was setting and casting a lovely pink glow on Rainier. The cloud was still there and the angle of the sun was lighting up the one side of it. I was enthralled with the beauty of it all.

Great shots of Rainier and the lenticular cloud is like a cap of color.
Fantastic pictures. I love your cloud shots.
Amazing country, amazing photos. Have a nice weekend Sally.
The Mountain is out! Great photos of such a beautiful place.
The last photo is marvellous- this pinkis mountain is beautiful!
Ah, you warned me about the Rainier shots and now I see why!! These are so awesome, Sally! Don't you love those strange clouds that seem to wrap themselves around the mountain. Someone explained those to me and what they're called, needless to say, with my fading memory I can't remember exactly what it is. But you need no explanation to enjoy the beauty!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Sylvia
Breath taking views of the mountain ... reminds me of trying to photograph Mount Shasta ... unpredictable at best! I'm sharing my beautiful beach sunset views at Sacred Ruminations this week ;-)
Hugs and blessings,
You have captured it beautifully. What a lovely mountain.
There are some beautiful sights in our world if only we slow down and open our hearts to them. Both shots of Ranier show differing types of beauty. This mountain probably is capped by snow most of the year round.
It is raining here in Sydney today but yesterday it crested 40C.
Stunning, first shot is superb

Beautiful! You got some fantastic shots of the lenticular cloud!
gorgeous sky shots. That first one is breath taking.
Those are really beautiful captures. I've never seen the mountain from that angle. That cloud is amazing too. It seems that often such clouds can be found in the vicinity of Mr. Rainier! Great skywatch friday post!
Sally as others have noted that is a lenticular cloud. Aren't they great. Google it and you will see many different shapes of the same type cloud.
Super shot of 'OUR' mountain. MN
