Black-Headed GrosbeakWe used to have one at our previous house that would rap on the window in the back door. It would trill, rap, rap against the glass, and trill again. I'm not sure what it was looking for. A mate perhaps?
After awhile, it got annoying. This went on for days but eventually the bird moved on.
