Ahh, school's back in session. For the parents (most of us any way), you can hear the sighs of relief. For the kids (most of them any way), you can hear them whining when they have to get up early that first day back. Waaa!!!
Here are Josh and Ryan, ready to go on the first day of school with their new clothes and backpacks. Ryan was starting 1st grade and Josh 3rd. They were styling in their "Hammer" pants made by their mom and their matching t-shirts. Both boys were probably more excited about their pants than school itself.
"Hammer" pants were made popular by MC Hammer back in the late 80's, early 90's for those of you too young to remember. I can think of one good thing about Hammer pants - the waistband isn't hanging halfway down their butts while the kid's trying to walk. On the other hand, I hope they never come back in style again!
I am so glad Karl had these pictures in his stash. I think the boys were adorable on this day in time. You really get a sense of the brotherhood they shared and still do...somewhat. :)
Thanks for sharing this trip down memory lane with me in the Remember Whensday meme. I host it each week and hope you'll share some of your favorite memories and photographs. Click on the badge below to come visit with us.

Great shots! Such cute guys -- Hammer pants and all! Always fun to take a look back -- I always wonder how so much time could have passed so quickly???? Where was I?????
Have a great day!
Sylvia
this is a keeper, and many years from now will be a treasure!
Those pants - I'm cracking up over here! Your guys' smiles are so engaging ... I'm hooked, already!
What a great back to school picture, Hammer Pants and all. Their children will find this picture touching, and probably hilarious as far as the pants are concerned.
Some pants!(or trousers as we call them here--pants are underpants (to us in UK). When we look at some of the old pics. of the children when they were young they say, "Look what you made us wear!"
Handsome boys, though.
Your boys are so handsome. I love their outfits and they were so stylish for the time (which wasn't so long ago!) How talented you were to make them.
This is a greta story and wonderful pics. You really can see how great they get on. Thanks for sharing xx

My boys were going on 9, 11 and 13 in 1991 and they had shorts made of fabric like these. They thought they were cool, as did I in whatever fashion I was wearing then. Fond memories...great post!
What a great post -- they are so adorable. Makes me feel old -- they are more the age of our oldest grandkids yikes!
Thanks again for doing remember whensday. I had a hard time posting the link back to the meme this week, but I think I finally figured it out and fixed it.

What a fun memory. Such handsome boys, look like they belong in a back to school catalog from the 80s.
