Mellow Yellow Monday #21 - Growing Fuel

Standing on one of the granite rock outcroppings near the Okanogan house, I could see a swatch of yellow off in the distance. It really stood out among the grayish color of the surrounding area.

My neighbor, Amanda, later told me it was canola. A company is growing it for biodiesel. This shot was taken down at the abandoned homestead which was closer to the field of canola.

Canola fields look almost unreal.

How very cool. The Okanogan can always use a new and clean industry. Plus it's colorful to look at.

Wow, fascinating photo! I never saw canola growing in a field, I've only seen it as vegetable oil.

It reminds me of when I lived in Europe and 'rape' was growing on the hills. It was bright yellow. I could never get past the word for it...I thought for sure my German friend was just mispronouncing it. Canola is much easier to get through!

Very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen it growing before and I know I didn't know it had yellow flowers.
