Skywatch Friday #48 - Snow in June?

I know snow in June is a reality in some places. But not in the Seattle, WA area. However, we are having our own version of snow lately.

The cottonwood trees are doing their thing and it looks like snow on the ground. If we get a bit of a breeze, it swirls through the air like snow.

Cottonwood Snow

We've also been have some really great weather (blue skies and sunshine) the past couple of weeks, but please don't tell anyone. I still want people to think it rains year-round in Seattle. We've got a reputation to uphold, ya know!

Please don't tell the cottonwoods here... my sinuses can't take it! I do believe it did snow somewhere out west last week didn't it?

Summer has come early to Seattle with blue sky in June, even with the cottonwood snow. I'm sure it will rain again soon.

WoW, that's amazing you found some blue sky here in WA - you know with all our rain. ;-)

Now I must admit, just looking at the cottonwood snow has my eyes watering. Allergies!

The cotton woods are popping down my way too. And they do look like snow at times.

Looks neat, but not good for allergies.

It's time we had some real rain. I heard we've had 23 day with no rain. Well in Seattle anyway. MB

We lived in Puyallup and Montesano many years back and your photos made me kind of nostalgic. It's true, though--if the "mountain was out" all the time, everyone in the world would live there, because there isn't any place as beautiful as Washington in the sunshine.

Ah, my nose gets itchy just seeing that! We are having the same snow storm here as well... not surprising, I guess!

I loved your jet photos below. I love watching them, lucky you!

So THAT's why they call them Cottonwood trees! Now I'm going over to my neighbors who have the tallest trees for blocks to see if my longstanding hunch about them being Cottonwoods is true. I'll just look for the downy stuff you show in your photo. I learn something new all the time visiting friends images. Thanks!

The cottonwoods really do give off a lot of fluff, don't they?
