Skywatch Thursday #47 - One More Relay Picture

This was a spur of the moment shot while I was out walking during the Relay last Friday evening. It was the only sunset one I got. I was busy facepainting for most of the daylight hours.

I was surprised by the sun's rays in it and decided to use it for Skywatch.

I played with the cropping to take out Patti's forehead in the lower right corner, but there's something about the picture that I didn't care for. I can't put my finger on it though. I'll let you decide which one you like.

I put a photo like this in a competition once, and the judge said I should have left the person out of it!! Don't know whether you think that is the problem or not?

Just sayin'

I don´t mind the uncropped version but it´s the cropped version that really shows the rays of the sun, which make a whole lot of difference.

I like the second photo.
In the first although you cropped I see a pole coming out of his head perhaps that is what disturbs you..anyway..the second is my favorite! Happy SWF viewing!

Very, very nice. Actually, I prefer the cropped version, seems simpler and more dramatic. Good shot!

They both look ok. the main focus is the sun and I really didn't notice the head until you mentioned it. I would have sooner or later. MB

Love the kindergarten pic. MB

I like the cropped one. Very interesting silhouette and the sunrays are just great. And those hint of clouds dots the i. Great shot! Happy SWF!

I like the cropped one, I think it's the clouds so close to their heads that "clutters" it and distracts. Thanks for the link! :D

I kinda like the uncropped version... seeing the sun on that person's forehead as they too look at the sun adds a nice sense of wonder and spontaneity about the photo... well to me it does.

Very impressive rays you got there!

And sorry for the overcast skies... I'm one wicked rain dancer, eh?

love the picture Sally. definitely like the cropped one. the picture is framed better into thirds and also without the forehead distracting, you can see the rays of the sun. did you brighten the color on the cropped one too?

I like the second shop...it draws the focus more to the sun. I also like the silhouette of the people in the cherry picker ??

Losing the foread increases the dramatic effect of the afore mentioned objects :-)
